A History of Cairhien over the Past Hundred Years

Cairhien is a particular interest of mine, due to the intricate web of politics and Daes'daemar...and even moreso due to the fact that one of my characters, Micah Valindred, is from Cairhien and fits into this web. So...I have compiled a great deal of information about Cairhien and it's history...particularly the past century or so. And to avoid contradictions and maintain continuity, I present it for your perusal.

Most, though not all of this, is my own invention, drawn from Micah's bio, RPs with him, and my own mind. Some, however, is drawn from the bios, RPs, and contributions of Telaisien Lantrelle, Cris Jerrod, and Venya Malin, and some small parts from others.

This will be updated as I fit both new houses/characters in and develop the web itself...currently, many more things could be cross-referenced that have not been. :) But have patience.

Chronology

112 NE: House Miravwin takes the Sun Throne, crowning Abarahad Miravwin. This begins the dynasty of the Miravwins, who through political strength and maneuvering will hold the Sun Throne for over 100 years.
118 NE: Balthazar Miravwin born
144 NE: Gedril Mooreshin born
148 NE: Balthazar Miravwin takes the throne, after his father Abarahad is killed during a hunting accident.
149 NE: Adrian Vasumir born, to parents Denys and Lyssette Vasumir
154 NE: Marisa Delovinde born
155 NE: Maxmillian Miravwin born, to parents Balthazar and Delia Miravwin
156 NE: Adley Vasumir born
160 NE: Roland Valindred born
166 NE: Lyssette Vasumir dies, killed in childbirth (the child, a girl, also died).
170 NE: Gedril Mooreshin is appointed Captain of the King's Guard, at age 26.
172 NE: Morgan Valindred born. Marisa Delovinde betrothed to Ambrose Varadin, a political marriage.
173 NE: Adrian Vasumir leaves Cairhien, when Marisa Delovinde marries Ambrose Varadin.
174 NE: Tabitha Delovinde born...but only eight months after her mother's marriage. It was, at the time, simply believed the child was early.
175 NE: Aliah Roanes born
179 NE: Upon the death of Balthazar (possibly old age, possibly poison) at the age of 61, the throne passes to Maxmillian Miravwin (aged 24). While a young king, he was both popular and strongly supported, especially by his close friend Roland Valindred and Roland's father, High Seat Uther Valindred.
180 NE: Saeyl Mooreshin born.
185 NE: Gedril Mooreshin killed (at age 41), defending the King from would-be assassins. It is rumored afterward (though quietly) that Mooreshin was killed due to political pressure...he was becoming to close to the King, perhaps beginning to serve as a friend and conscience. This was noted, with displeasure, by Lord Uther Valindred...and it is speculated the assassins were sent by him, and that Mooreshin was in fact their true target.
186 NE: Marisa Delovinde becomes High Seat of her house, upon the death of her father Andred, killed by pneumonia.
187 NE: The Valindred brothers (Roland and Morgan) are both betrothed, Roland to Aliah Roanes and Morgan to Tabitha Delovinde. Both are decidedly political marriages...Roland was 15 years older than his bride-to-be.
188 NE: Aliah Roanes wed to Roland Valindred.
189 NE: Tabitha elopes with a tailor from Whitebridge (Amos Lantrelle), breaking her betrothal. There would from this day on be bad blood between the Valindreds and the Delovindes.
190 NE: Maragaine Lantrelle born.
192 NE: Telaisien Lantrelle born. Lord Uther Valindred killed in battle, at the River Irallel. His son Roland becomes High Seat, at age 32.
193 NE: Chastity Valindred born, but dies at age 7 months (crib death).
194 NE: Atticus Canly appointed Royal Headsman of Cairhien.
195 NE: Micah Valindred born.
196 NE: Adley Vasumir becomes High Seat of his house, when his father Denys dies in a fall from his horse.
197 NE: Carolyn Danhara born.
200 NE: Morgan Valindred leaves Cairhien, for parts unknown
207 NE: Julius Miravwin born. Micah first encounters a young woman named Venya Malin, at a party hosted by Lord Harold Augustyn.
214 NE: Micah Valindred leaves Cairhien, following the events surrounding the death of his father (see Micah's bio for further information).
217 NE: The Contesting. Upon the death of King Maxmillian Miravwin (struck down by an assassin's arrow), numerous houses stepped forward to vie for the throne. Maxmillian left only a single heir (his son Julius, now aged 10), and both Maxmillian's wife and two of his mistresses were killed in rapid succession (attempts were made on the son, but he was protected). The political maneuvering included numerous assassinations and attempts, skirmishes between house guards and levies, and even came down to pitched fighting in the streets at one point. The Contesting was ended when a coalition of a dozen major houses backed House Hautril for the throne, and peace of a sorts was restored. Queen Tovaindre of house Hautril was crowned.
220 NE: present day

That's all I have for the nonce, but more will be forthcoming...at the very least, I have a major RP in the works that is set in Cairhien, and it will provide more information about many of the events and people listed here. Many of them will be, to you readers, simply names that mean nothing...but they will come to have meaning in time.
