Felix Lodellin

Physical Description:
Felix is both short and slight of build, but his stature belies his strength, for he is a well-muscled former soldier. His brown hair is heavily streaked with ash at the temples, and his face is lined and craggy like an old cliff. His eyes are a deep grey, and he often smells of coalsmoke and steel and polishing oil. At the end of his right wrist is a fist crafted from solid steel...he lost his real hand in the battle of the Cal Moharen. Hes gotten so used to having the artificial hand that he gets around almost as well as if it were a normal one. He normally wears clothes of plain cut and drab color, including a long grey cloak fastened with a silver pin in the shape of a tower, and around his neck hangs the brass key to the armory doors. Observant people may notice he walks with a barely perceptible limp, which grows more pronounced in cold weather.

Personality:
Felix is quiet, polite, and professional...the sort of man youd expect to be a clerk or scribe, rather than a soldier...but he is almost without fear and speaks in the same clipped tones to anyone, up to the Master of Arms. He brooks no nonsense or foul language, and has used his steel fist to bash more than one head. He loves weapons, especially old or well-crafted ones, and will ask to test the heft and balance of any interesting ones he comes across. He is expert with nearly any weapon you could care to name, though of course his missing hand limits his choice these days (fortunately for him, he was a southpaw). He also has a good eye for matching the proper weapon to a person...for example, choosing a sword to suit their reach, or the proper weight of battleaxe for their size, or how long a spear they should use.

History:
Felix was born and raised in Tar Valon. He is now nearly fifty, although he looks younger. Felix was a soldier in the Tar Valon Guard for more than twenty years, and even after he lost his hand he served as a Sergeant of the Watch, helping keep Tar Valon free of cutpurses and street-thugs. He accepted the job as Tower Armorer after receiving a second serious wound, a blow from a studded club that broke his leg. Combined with his age, he decided it was time for a less rigorous job. He was never a Warder (he was too dedicated to his wife to share himself with another woman, even in a platonic relationship), but has a great deal of respect for them, as well as for Aes Sedai.

Hobbies/Notes:
When not attending the Tower arsenal, either supervising the arming of individuals who come or caring for the weapons there, Felix prefers to spend his free time in one of two places: the Tower smithy, where he watches the blacksmith craft new weapons (as well as give him pointers and talk arms-lore), or a tavern in Tar Valon called the Stormhaven. This bar is popular with soldiers and former soldiers from around the world. Felix enjoys mead rather than ale, and never drinks enough to get drunk. ). A third place to which he goes on occasion is the river, where he likes to fish. He had a wife who is now passed on, a son who is in the Tar Valon Guard (age 22), and two daughters who still live with him (ages 13 and 17. Felix is happy to spend time discussing weaponscraft, tactics, old war stories, or fishing, especially with Warders.
